The Daiwa Saltiga Reel 2020 model has surpassed the hype and is the current top spin reel to beat in the industry. Daiwa has set the bar high. Many will argue, the Saltiga 2020 fishing reel is the ultimate spin reel and without peer.
Daiwa has removed the screws from the underside of the rear plate, delivering even better protection from water ingress.
Daiwa engineers have included select construction materials to boost corrosion resistance. The new paint is just as critical to corrosion resistance as it is to cosmetics. It’s a stunning looking reel as well as incredibly durable. You will notice a lack of porting in the Daiwa Saltiga 2020, and this too is all about keeping the water out.
Internal gearing is now significantly more substantial. The drive gear is more than twice the strength of Saltiga 15. The new aluminium Air Rotor is also worth noting as it is twice as rigid as the 15. Intelligent engineering has ensured strength upgrades have not come at the expense of the famous Saltiga light-weight feel.
MONOCOQUE (MQ)
MQ Body will take Saltiga to the next level. The MQ system does not require a body cover, instead using an engine plate to screw directly to the body. Eliminating the need for screws to hold a body cover in place. MQ body improves the strength of the reel, it also improves the water-resistance of the body and allows a larger diameter drive gear to be installed.
MAGSEALED BALLBEARING
After a great success of Magseal, Daiwa has decided to install the Magseal system into a ball bearing.By adding the fluid, it creates a magnetic seal within the bearings to support and reduce the amount of saltwater intrusion. Instead of the use of rubber seals , its far more effective and creates smoother spin of the reel.In 20 Saltiga, Daiwa has installed the Magseal bearings on each side of drive gear just like 15 Saltiga.This structure will protect the internals of the reels and eliminate intrusion of saltwater.
MAGSEALED LINE ROLLER
Out of all the components within the reel, the Line Roller takes the most damage from the salt, sand and other elements your line picks up whilst fishing.By adding the Magseal bearing into the line roller assembly, it makes the roller remain smooth and extends its life.The long life of the Magseal line roller bearing system will decrease the amount of line troubles whilst fishing.
G1 DURALUMIN DRIVE GEAR
The larger diameter drive gear. Increasing the diameter by 12% and also increasing thickness reduces the amount of wear, including twist and deformation to both the drive & pinion gears. In comparison to 15 Saltiga, it is more than double the strength. New gear design combined with MQ body makes 20 Saltiga the pinnacle of saltwater spinning reels.
ALUMINIUM AIR ROTOR
More than twice as rigid. The newly designed aluminium air rotor is more than double the rigidity compared to 15 Saltiga. It is also 50% more durable than the famous original Z series Saltiga of 2002.
AUTOMATIC TOURNAMENT DRAG (ATD)
Drag durability more than 10 times that of 15 Saltiga. In comparison to 15 Saltiga drag washers it is more than 10 times more durable with significantly increased drag longevity. Adding drag washers means the workload is spread evenly across the drag stack. By designing the drag with smaller washers, the maximum pressure per washer is decreased, but by adding more washers increased pressure is created.
LC-ABS
20 SALTIGA was adopted LC (Long casting) -ABS. Double taper spool edge can release line smoothly and reduces fluttering properly.It realized non-trouble and long casting.
